Course Description:
RATIONALE
To build and extend upon modules at Level 4 in relation to the changing economic, social and political environment that organisations operate within. The module aims to extend the student’s knowledge of the dynamic inter-relationship that exists between government, markets, organisations and individuals in relation to the changing business environment
AIMS
Through the completion of this module students will:
- Extend their knowledge of market dynamics
- Develop their understanding of governments’ effects on the marketplace and its activities
- Acquire a deeper understanding of capitalism, globalisation and economic growth
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of this module, a student will be able to:
- Understand and evaluate the rationale for government policy in relation to the public/private sector debate and how policy changes impact upon organizations, individuals and society, using case study.
- Compare and contrast the relative performance levels of the UK and its competitors in relation to growth, national income and their relevance for society, organizations and individuals, by referring to exemplar organizational behaviour.
- Evaluate the role of ethics with reference to business activity within a global context, and the positive and negative outcomes that arises from such activity.
